An incredible 2014. Forward looking 2015.

2014 is an amazing year! Crazy yet fulfilling. And in a few more days, 2014 will be history. While we took a moment to reflect 2014, let maintain an opened heart to welcome 2015. A new beginning with more challenges ahead of us but will definitely be another fulfilling journey on self discovery. With an opened heart, a positive attitude and can-do mindset, goal will be achieved and dream be realised. Do remember that behind all the achievement,  there is someone who has helped and enabled you. This someone could be your teachers, coaches, parents and friends. Their blessing and guidance has path your way to your success today. Always be thankful and grateful. Three Cheers to 2014 and Hello 2015.

Congratulation to Filomena, our darling girl. You've done extremely well for your PSLE, scoring 4 A-stars with a T-score of 265. What an impressive performance and achievement! We're proud and happy for you. I am glad that you're put in 6 years of hard work and commitment, working tirelessly and staying focus on your goal. And congratulation on your admission to Raffles Girl Secondary School (RGS) Integrated Program. Your dream has finally come true. The journey ahead will present many challenges, unknown and maybe some setbacks. This is not to worry. Every challenge would make you stronger and wiser. Continue to give and do your best and soon you will realise that everything can be resolved with determination and hard work. This is always the key to success. Most importantly, enjoy your learning journey in RGS and seek every opportunity to build your character. Make new friends and build the network. It's not a competition against the great minds. But rather a self discovery to find your inner voice to discover your inner strength and unleash your full potential. Get ready for a new chapter in your life. Your self discovery journey will begin now. Three Cheers and enjoy.

Cordelia also did extremely well in her final year examination. Second in class and fifth in level. It's the result of her hard work and great effort. Primary 5 will be a lot more challenging. Your preparation to your PSLE will start now. Aim high and set your goal for PSLE. Put in 100% of your effort and commitment. Stay focus and work steadily towards your dream. Believe in yourself. You are the best. You can do it! Papa and Mama will always stay by you.

Endeavour Celebrate 2014
Outside School, the girls are actively involved in their CCA, Gu Zheng. Both participated in the bi-yearly SYF (Singapore Youth Festival) and was also invited to perform in Endeavour Celebrate! Celebrating the achievement of performing arts and visual arts. We've an wonderful night. Good job!

Cherry picking at Cromwell
This December, we spent 18 days and travelled 3600km on the road (self drive), exploring the South of New Zealand. We started with hot spring in Hammer spring, followed by watching of giant sperm whale and dusky dolphins at Kaikoura. It's so exciting. The glacier from Mt. Cook, Frans Josef and Fox glacier were amazing. Church of the good Shepherd, Collie dog statue and the star gazing in the night at Lake Tekapo were awesome. The Mt cook Alpine Salmon farm and the fresh sashimi from Twizel was appetising. The Wrinkly Rams in Omarama, featuring the Merino sheep show and the sheep feeding. So much fun for the children. The historical white stone architecture and blue Penguin colony in Oamaru. It's so romantic. From Oamaru to Dunedin, we stopped over for the Moeraki Boulders. It's looked like dinosaur eggs. A geologic wonder formed about 65 millions years ago, dotting the length of the shoreline. The highlight from Dunedin includes Baldwin street, recognised by Guinness Book of Records as the steepest street in the world. We've conquered it as a family. The Otago university, Dunedin Railway station, Cadbury World tour, and last but not least, the ELM wildlife tours, featuring the yellow eyed penguin, fur seals, sea lions, flying albatross and many species of seabirds and waders. It's amazing that we can be so close and personal with the penguins. The ride to Milford sound in Fiordland region was superb, featuring one of the best scenic in New Zealand. Glow worm caves in Te Anua. Nature is fascinating. We loved Queenstown, build around Lake Wakatipu. We gave a miss for the action packed trills of jet boating, white water drafting, and bungy jump. But we certainly have a lot of fun from Skyline Gondola and luge rides, TSS Earnslaw Vintage steamship lake cruises, Walter peal high country farm coupled with gourmet BBQ lunch. Next was, the Arrowtown (a historical gold mining town) and the cherry picking at Cromwell, before we arrived at Wanaka for Stuart Landsborough Puzzling world. God must be crazy? We stopped for two nights at Franz Josef.

Mount Cook
But the unfavourable weather hampered our multiple attempts on the heli hike to discover up close the magnificent phenomenon of glaciers. Combined an awesome scenic helicopter flight with a unique guided walk among the ice caves, pinnacles and seracs of this pristine alpine environment. What a pity! Nevertheless, we headed on to Greymouth. We stopped over at Hokitika for the glassblowing studio, the greenstone centre and the finally the Pancakes rock in Punakaki. Our last night was in Christchurch, a inspiring city that restarts and stand tall after multiple earthquakes attack. The city taught us resilience. It was an incredible tour in New Zealand, together with Steven and family. Thank you for your great companionship. We have a lot of fun.

Work was another hectic but fulfilling year. I was officially transferred from Dry Etch MFG to RDA under PIEs in May. I was tasked to transform RDA and create a one RDA team under the mega organisation. A stronger team is shaping up. Process teams across sites are leveraging on each other strength, there is more synergy and momentum within the PO. The full time Quality team was formed to work on strategy and building new system/ infrastructure. We're heading in the right direction. Work in progress for ROC (Remote Operation Control) to share common resources for productivity improvement. Physically we're apart but ROC will bring us virtually as One. One RDA team is slowly but surely building up in strength. Three cheers to my great team. Keep up the great work.

EHS Training and Promotion celebration
I was also heavily involved in CCA. This include EHS Training and Promotion (workplace safety) program and the Mpower'14 event. For the EHS T/P, the new initiative on can tag recycle was a roaring success. We collect more than half a million can tag within half a year. This is the power of teamwork. The Safety T-shirt, the monthly safety day, and the EHS T/P logo definitely helped to enhance our presence and effectiveness in safety promotion program. I am glad of the continuous support and energy from my team. I am humbled and impressed. Good job!

Mpower'14 with Mark Adam
Mpower'14 was the first time that Micron annual ATM meeting was moved out from Boise. And we're glad that Singapore was chosen as the first stop. The Transportainment under my team was impressive. We've managed to engage and empower our team members right from the bus journey to the event hall. It's not easy to co-ordinte 80 buses for 4 sites and conducting game during the bus journey (we call it the Transportainment). And glad that I have a capable team supporting me and enabling the program. The energy of the Singapore team member is amazing. We almost turn Expo hall upsize down. I bet we have impressed Mark & Mark and the VP of business units. Micron Singapore rock! And I am glad that my team has contributed to this success. You're the champion!

Looking forward to 2015, will focus on my financial planning. Need to look seriously into my retirement plan and make my money work harder for me. Hopefully I am financially independent to focus on social work in 10 years time. By than, Filomena will be 23 and Cordelia will be 21. Both would be adult and my responsibility should have completed. I am glad that life has been very kind to me. I strongly believe that what we took from society we must return to society.

Goodbye 2014 and welcome 2015. Wishing all being, good health and happiness. And more peace in this world. Three Cheers.

Perfect 10 (1-2-2004 to 1-1-2014)

As a child in a navy blue overall, some said you're chubby and clumsy while some ridiculed that your body shaped like a toad. All these never bothered us. In our eyes, you're simply perfect. A beautiful and sweet little angel.

You're always there for us and is always on standby to serve the family. 7 days a week and 24 hours a day. We saluted your commitment and dedication. Willingly and wholeheartedly volunteering your life, time and service to our family. You worked round the clock, and had never rested on weekends, holidays or have taken any sick leave. The sweetest thing was you loved my 2 little girls as much as we do. You always showered them with love. Giving them your full attention, comfort and companionship. You shown them to every part of Singapore and Malaysia. Frequent the parks and museums of Singapore. And many cities of Malaysia, namely Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Johor, Melaka etc. Telling them their history and the grandmother fairytale. You're such a knowledgeable teacher. And whenever they're tired, you'll cuddle them and rock them to sleep. We'll look forward to weekend and school holiday where we can spend time together. We're one big family.

Time flies and you've reached your end life and has to retire. It's sad to let you go. We thanked you for your solid 10 years of excellent service to our family. 100% commitment and loyalty to us. We will always remember you. You're not gone. You merely moved from HDB carpark into our hearts. Your story has strongly etched into one part of our memory. We will always love and miss you. Cheers.

An fulfilling 2013. And a forward looking 2014.

Effective May'13, I was selected and promoted to lead Micron F7 Dry Etch Manufacturing team. Overseeing both Production (Operation) and Equipment. Three rounds of intensive interviews were mentally draining. Nevertheless, it's a crucial and valuable lifelong experience. And another turning point in my life. I am very thankful of the given opportunity and the blessing from Beng Chea. Though I don't have manufacturing background, but he and the panel believed that my courage and creativity will enable more breakthrough in etch. 6 months have passed. Etch Engineering and Manufacturing are much integrated now. Team work is stronger. Collaboration and synergy are higher. Trust is established and goals are aligned. Now, we breath, talk and dream as One Etch family. Together as One team, we have achieved and accomplished more. I am proud that the team has successfully improved the module cycle time from previously 5-6 days to 2.5 days now. It's an goal that seen almost impossible from the start. What an outstanding performance! What an amazing team! F7 Etch Bravo.

Looking back to September  2011, I was asked to join Dry Etch engineering team reporting to Sock Cheng. At that time, my main motivation is to ensure Ji Xian can be promoted and took over my CMP role. It did. But now, it's became apparent that the decision benefited myself just as much. Without this valuable and relevant experience from dry etch engineering team, I will not stand a chance for promotion this year. Connecting all the little dots to 2006, my career in Micron started to take off when I have decided to move out of FA Lab, out of my comfort zone, and started afresh in the FAB. First in 300mm CMP, next to ADT CMP/IMPLANT, and finally to 300mm Dry Etch. It's an incredible journey, although there was frustration, struggle and tear along the way. But I've never looked back! With lot of handwork, determination and positive mindset, I am glad that step by step, I am progressing steadily. Having said that, I am also very lucky to meet with many good people. Showering me with care and support.  Coaching and guiding me. Trusting me. And being so patient with me. There are so many such wonderful angels in my life, but Lip Wee and Sock Cheng are most special. I will never forget your kindness. And all the unconditional help. A very big Thank You!

To sum up my career life. Move out of the comfort zone. Burned your bridge and never look back. Seek every opportunity to learn and contribute. Help someone. Their career is as important as yours. Give your service or time. Do you best and be your best. You might not win the world. But you will win many hearths. And your journey will be both fulfilling and rewarding.

The Big Rocks celebration. It's an initiative by Wayne to celebrate MSA achievement in Micron Transformation program. I was appointed the chairman for F7 organising committee. Overseeing the recruitment of team members, to budget planning and control, sourcing and engagement of supplier and event planner, and brainstorming of activities and program. It's amazing that so much can be done and accomplished within a very tight schedule and budget when you formed a great team for one simple and common goal. To have fun, fun, fun. We've a great party. The turn out was good.  The program was very well received by both team members and top management. Good job to F7 committee. You guys rock!

I never imagine that I would have done any team building program prior to joining the FAB, under 300mm PEE department. I never realised that I have such talent and potential in organising team building program. And it started with small program within my area to larger department and finally company wide program. As it's an extra assignment outside your usual responsibility, it's always shunned by many as it involved lot of commitment, time and effort. Soon I realised that these 'dirty' job is indirectly enlarging my presence and radar among the management team. It soon became visible that you have the capacity to do more. Your have the courage to try new thing. The creativity to do more with less. The ability to bring together a team to accomplish goal. The capability to engage and influence external parties. These 'merit' will not be very visible if I will be focus solely on engineering stuff. What started of as a dirty job has turned out to enlarge my visibility which I believed has helped a lot in my career development. Always be positive, transform all SHIT into your fertiliser that make you stronger, better and wiser. Look far and start building up your emotional bank.

Japan tour. It's an annual travel time for the family. We spent 2 weeks exploring central Japan on rail. It's a fantastic trip and anyone have a great time. We love Japan. The culture, the people, the food and the scenery, the weather. The snow in Takayama came unexpectedly. The kids loved it and managed to build a snow man! It's a a sweet and pleasant surprise for everyone. We will be back!

The kids has continued to do very well in School. Glad that they have put in a lot of effort and seeking every opportunity to learn and excel in and outside School. Three cheers to endeavour. And all the credit to Mummy for mentoring and coaching the young girls. For the coming year, Filomena will be taking her PSLE. It'll be a crucial year for her. I am confident that she will do well. Set a goal. Aim high. Plan ahead and work hard towards achieving this goal. With strong determination and hard work, dream will come true. Have faith in yourself. You can do it. If there is a will, there is a wave. Just do it!

3 steps and 1 bow on Vesak day. This has been a yearly event that I look forward to. I hope to continue   it year after year. This year is special. I was accompanied by my mother. It's extra sweet to accomplish this milestone together. It's a step to bring Buddhism closer to her. May you be well. May you be happy.

2014 resolution. It's time to look into investment so as to make my money work hard for me and hopefully financial security for my family in long ran. Will focus on long term investment. Time to re-activate my PEOM account. Will continue on personal development and improvement. Read more. Will continue to conquer another Marathon. Start early. Ran now. Make time for family. Plan ahead. Be presence. Give back to Society. Lent a helping hand. Volunteer your time and service. Wishing Peace and Harmony in this world. May all being be happy. May all being be well. Signing off 2013… Cheers OKY
